A good neighbor to Scenic 11

March 19, 2013

Oconee’s first 21st century high school is being laid out in a way to be an aesthetically-pleasing addition to the Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway. Dr. Michael Thorsland, assistant superintendent for Oconee School District Operations, said meetings have been held with scenic and conservation-minded groups concerned about how the new Walhalla High is to look alongside SC 11 in Picket Post community. And, as a result Thorsland, said no LED lighting will be visible from the scenic highway. Considerable shrubbery will also be planted on campus property.
