153 extension goes to public hearing

A project to extend a major Pickens County highway goes to a public hearing next week in Easley. The DOT hearing takes place 5 to 7 Tuesday night, October 29 at the new Easley High School, 154 Green Wave Boulevard. The public may review and discuss with Department of Transportation representatives plans to extend SC 153 from its existing terminus at U-S 123 to a point on Saluda Dam Road between Grant Valley Road/Bishop[ Drive and Prince Perry Road. Included also are widening the bridge over 123, a new bridge over the railroad just north of 123, and a bridge or open bottom culvert at Hamilton Creek. According to the DOT, the primary purpose is to reduce 123 congestion and improve mobility on the east side of Easley.
