18-month prison term for shoplifting defendant

A 40-year old woman with a previous shoplifting record has been sent to prison for 20 months. In Oconee General Sessions Court today, Judge Lawton McIntosh ordered a seven-year term for Vonetta Regenia Brown, suspended the sentence to 20 months and five years probation. Brown pleaded guilty today to shoplifting enhancement, which amounted to incidents of taking store items in 2013 and 2014. McIntosh was told that the Brown’s record of shoplifting dated back 10 years and included four incidents since 2005.
