2007 lawsuit off the docket!

Oconee Common Pleas Court has received word of the pre-trial settlement in the case of McMahan versus Crescent Resources. It turns out to be a settlement long time in the making. According to the docket for this week’s court term, the claim for members of the McMahan family against a company that bought land in the 1960s for Duke’s Keowee-Toxaway project has been settled, and an order declaring the case settled is forthcoming. The lawsuit centered on a dispute over 77.5 acres that the late Wallace McMahan contended that he had been promised a chance to re-purchase, if any part of that property was not covered by water to operate the power project.
