22-year sentence handed down

A 22-year term in prison has been ordered for the final defendant in a case of homicide three years ago in Anderson County.  According to the office of the 10th Circuit Solicitor, the sentence was ordered yesterday for Zachary Gantt.  Pleas of guilt were entered by the defendant to charges of voluntary manslaughter, kidnapping, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.  The victim, C-J Patel, was last seen leaving the Exxon station that he and his family managed on the Clemson Boulevard near I-85.  His car was found abandoned in Fair Play and his body discovered eight days later in a wooded area off U-S 29 near the Georgia line.
