25-degree night ahead, Red Cross urges caution

Our forecast calls for the temperature to fall to 25 degrees tonight, but that’s not going to be the worst of it in what is building to be a frigid weekend statewide. The American Red Cross reminds everyone to take precautions when heating their homes—-especially cautious when using space heaters. Heating sources are the second leading cause of home fire deaths. Fatal home fires increase during the winter months. Oconee County recorded its first 2015 fire death on Tuesday.
