30-year sentence for Pickens bank crime

At Pickens, an elderly man has been ordered to prison for 30 years for the crime of entering a bank with the intent to steal and grand larceny. The conviction by a Pickens County jury this week and the judge’s sentence means that Brent Christopher McLaurin will have to serve 25 and a half years of the sentence before being eligible for early release. McLaurin is 69 years old. According to an announcement by Solicitor Walt Wilkins, McLaurin on January 14, 2014 entered the Sun Trust Bank in Pickens and demanded the tellers give him $3,900 dollars. A tip led to his arrest at a Greenville motel, but the money was never recovered.
