4-Hers win national competition

In a national competition to test teenagers’ knowledge of equine science and management, South Carolina youngsters took home the gold. State Rep. Gary Clary and the rest of the South Carolina House of Representatives recognized the winning teams on the House floor and presented a resolution in their honor. Senator Thomas Alexander presented the students with a Senate resolution. Six youth participants in the South Carolina 4-H Horse Program won team and individual awards during competition in Louisville, Kentucky. Their victory came as Clemson University seeks to add an education and conference center at the nearby T-Ed Garrison Arena to elevate the national reputation of the state’s cattle, horse and other agriculture industries.
