48-year old man implicated in burglary near Seneca

One man is the accused burglar. A second is the man who authorities believed helped orchestrate the crime. Two Oconeeans have been arrested by the Sheriff’s Office and charged as the result of a burglary two weeks ago near Seneca—on Sugar Hill Road. Arrest warrants charge Kevin Wayne Maler, 48, of C-Avalon Drive, Walhalla with second degree burglary and petty larceny of a ring, a pressure washer, and television sets. The charge of accessory before the fact of a felony has been pressed against 28-year old Richard William Shumsky. According to Jimmy Watt, Sheriff’s spokesman, Shumsky is accused of counseling and hiring Maler to commit the acts—the victims of which were Shumsky’s mother and grandmother. Some of the stolen items have been recovered.
