$5 million to fix Oconee roads

Unless the Governor issues a veto, one lawmaker says, Oconee can look forward to a fairly decent amount of money in the next 12 months to help fix its deteriorating roads.  Representative Bill Sandifer spoke to us today about the state’s new budget that is scheduled to kick in tomorrow, although Governor Haley was announcing which parts of the budget she wants to veto.  In 2015-16, at least as things stands now, OconeeCounty’s Transportation Committee is in line to divvy out $5.1 million toward repairs.  That’s not to build new roads, Sandifer says, it’s to fix what’s there now and is badly deteriorating.
