502 E. Main fetches one bidder

The for sale signs at 502 E. Main in Walhalla attracted one bidder. And Oconee County Council will be asked next week to approve the sale of the old house to Frances Dianne Wood. Her bid for the house and property amounts to $129 thousand, 501 dollars. Now that the house is no longer used for county offices, the county is interested in selling the property to allow it to be returned to the tax books of the city of Walhalla. A second recommendation at next week’s meeting calls for the county to spend nearly $500 thousand to authorize Palmetto Infrastructure of Greenville to replace Land Bridge in Mountain Rest. Two and a half years ago, the council entered into an agreement with the Forest Service to obtain a $96 thousand grant to help pay for the bridge replacement.
