9-11 memorial project infused by state grant

The new WalhallaHigh School is only weeks away from opening its doors.  And, next door, construction will start soon on a separate project to build a 9-11 memorial.  The group raising money for the project held its first meeting since word of a $200 thousand matching grant from the state government.  The committee has raised $70 thousand on its own, with an additional $10 thousand pledged.  The plan is to make the memorial something that Upstate residents can claim as their own.  “To that end,” says Brandon Shirley, “we will continue to raise funds locally.”
