9/11 memorial to honor victims and responders

Land has been secured in Oconee County, and a design approved for a memorial to incorporate remnants from all three locations of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on America. A volunteer committee working mostly behind the scenes until recently promises the memorial will offer compelling testimony to both the victims and heroes of New York City, the Pentagon and from those who died in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The memorial is to be built on South Carolina 11 on property adjacent to the new Walhalla High School. A dedication ceremony is being planned for September 11, 2015. The committee has obtained status, making all contributions tax-deductible. Checks can be made payable to 9/11 Memorial Oconee, SC Inc. and mailed to 9/11 Memorial Committee, 115 Maintenance road, Salem, SC 29676. Contributions can also be made on the website: www.mountainlakes911.memorial.com.
