As far as Oconee Sheriff’s Office is concerned, anyone who keeps a gun should know how to safely handle that gun. Sgt. Mike McGowan, a certified range instructor, takes a frontline position when it comes to gun safety and ensuring that no one is shot by accident—whether that be with a gun held by a law enforcement officer or a private citizen legally entitled to keep a gun. McGowan explains why gun safety is a big priority for his office, as part of the community affairs program “Community Sound Off” to air on 96.3/WGOG Sunday, October 27.
