A first request for bond denied

A judge in Seneca has said no to setting a bond for a 58-year old man suspected in an attack last week of a neighbor. Municipal Judge Danny Singleton’s decision amounts to denial of Zenen Alvarez’s first request to set a bond, in hopes that he may be freed from jail until he is due in court to face three charges. The attack against a woman last week at Field Village Apartments resulted in charges against Alvarez of kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct first degree, and the possession of a firearm. Because of what Chief Jon Covington says is the suspect’s questionable status in the country, the police department are asking the U-S Attorney’s Office and I.C.E.—Immigration Customs Enforcement—to review its case against Alvarez.
