A memorial to the late Henry Biemann

A ceremony takes place November 9 at Walhalla’s Stumphouse Tunnel Park to dedicate a trail sign, as a memorial to Henry D. Biemann III, a city fire fighter known also for his work as a Boy Scout leader. The sign officially names a little more than one mile of a hiking trail for the late Biemann and is a project of 15 volunteers who make up the Blue Ridge Railroad Historic Hiking Trail Committee. Everyone is invited for the ceremony, which begins at 10 o’clock that Saturday morning. Trail hikes are encouraged that day, from 9 am to 1 p-m. Interpreters will be stationed at sections of the trail to provide anecdotes of the historic significance of the tunnels and area. The trail is important to local scouts. According to Dr. Jim Johnson, committee coordinator, scouts who hike the trail earn patches and medals.
