A new fix-up at Martin Creek

The commissioners who set the policy for the Oconee Joint Regional Sewer Authority remain dissatisfied with the results of a multi-million dollar upgrade for new lines, new pump stations and a one million gallon equalization tank. The work, covering the Martin Creek basin between Seneca and Clemson, was undertaken to ensure adequate capacity in the future for home developments. Last night the commissioners approved proceeding with plans toward finishing the job to their satisfaction. The authority employed an engineering company to conduct an investigation and will now pursue plans to design what needs to be done, according to Bob Winchester, JRSA executive director. Winchester says the authority holds “retainage” funds from the original contractor, Wateree Construction of Sumter.
