A new report card for OSD and its schools

A new report card from the state on the Oconee School District and its individual schools tracks their overall performance and improvement from last year to this year. In the category of Absolute Performance, all Oconee schools kept the rating they received in 2012. Twelve of the 19 schools received “excellent” or “good” exceeding progress toward South Carolina goals. Of the two grading areas, absolute is the one that Dr. Mike Lucas, county superintendent, pays the most attention. In the area of growth or improvement, six Oconee schools did not meet their goals for 2013: Oakway Intermediate, Orchard Park, Ravenel, and Northside elementaries; and Seneca and West-Oak high schools. In Ravenel’s case, the announcement states, the school was rated “at-risk” for 2013. That’s a rating Lucas takes some issue with. His comments are being aired today on 96.3/WGOG NEWS.
