A permanent home for agriculture events

During a budget meeting last night, Seneca’s representative on Oconee County Council proposed the county fund a permanent home for the county’s farmers market and its annual agricultural fair.  District Three Paul Cain’s idea garnered some interest during an “open discussion” last night of which projects the council should make part of a bond issue for capital projects.  Cain called for the county to follow through with an option to buy 57 acres belonging to the Patillo company on 123 between Seneca and Westminster.   When asked by District One’s Edda Cammick, chairwoman of the budget committee, the source for the money to buy the land, Cain suggested the county tap money set aside for a Tri-County Technical College satellite campus.  That money, he said, is no longer needed to buy land for the college now that the county has designated property within an industrial park for the college campus.
