A street “not used by the general public”

With an amendment, the Oconee County Council agreed last night to end maintenance of a county road near Walhalla described “not used by the general public.”  As part of the action, the council consents to the judicial abandonment and the close of a part of Hetrick Street near Walhalla and not far from where a Bojangles restaurant is proposed.  Council members were told that abutting property owners, with the exception of one, requested the county act.  The exception, Roberta Harvey, expressed concerns.  The resolution before council reads, in part, “So long as the Owners fully comply with all applicable law…., as amended, that the Owners construct a cul-de-sac of adequate turn around dimensions, as determined by Oconee County, at or near the newly proposed end of Road….”
