A “TAN” just in case the schools need cash

Just in case Oconee public schools run low on cash for payroll and other obligations, a measure is in place for the district to borrow. During yesterday’s special meeting, county trustees approved a tax anticipation note on the recommendation of Gloria Moore, executive director of finance. It will allow the public schools to borrow as much as $5.8 million, if needed, to cover expenses before 2014 tax payments start to come in later this year.
