Absentee Precinct to open next week

In advance of the November General Election, the Oconee Absentee Precinct will open at 8:30 Wednesday morning, October 1 and remain open Monday through Friday 8:30 a-m to 5 p-m until Monday, November 3—the day before the election. The office of Oconee Voter Registration and Elections on S. Pine Street in Walhalla on October 1 will also begin to mail absentee ballots, for voters who request a ballot through the mail. But voters need to keep in mind that, unlike some states, South Carolina does not have an early-voting law. Which means that to cast an absentee ballot, a voter must meet one of 15 criteria.
