Access to Jumping-Off Rock now year-round

Access to Jumping-Off Rock, a prime destination point within Jocassee Gorges, is now available year-round. According to the Department of Natural Resources, Horsepasture Road from U-S 178 to the overlook and Camp Adger Road from 178 to the Horse Mountain gate will be open for licensed vehicles. For safety, no ATV use will be allowed during summer months. DNR decided to provide year-round access because the Jumping-Off Rock overlook is one of the most recognized in the state. It offers beautiful views and supports one of South Carolina’s two pairs of nesting peregrine falcons. National Geographic recently identified Jocassee Gorges as one of the top 50 of “The World’s Last Great Places.”
