Accident trial verdict for the defense

An Oconee jury returned a verdict for the defendant in a slip and fall accident in the parking lot of a convenience store. In the case of Adam Rouse against Palms LLC, the jury yesterday ruled in favor of Palms. Rouse had sought damages to cover medical and other costs for injuries he allegedly suffered when he slipped and fell in the Palms parking lot during an ice and snowstorm in 2011. The trial is one of at least two taking place this week in the Common Pleas Court at Walhalla. The other, a motor vehicle accident case involving Sandra Gillett as plaintiff and John P. Chandler as defendant, is scheduled to begin today, according to a court officer.
