“Adding Art in Westminster”

The Leadership Oconee County Class of 2016 announces its group project “Adding Art in Westminster”. The project will focus on the installation of a sculpture and landscaping to the green space at the corner of Main St. and Retreat St. in downtown Westminster. To make this project happen, the Leadership class has partnered with the city of Westminster. “Public art speaks to the vibrancy of a community. Great things are happening in Oconee County, especially in Westminster, and we want to be a part of it” says Jennifer Moss, LOC class member.  “This project will make a positive impact on revitalizing the community.” LOC class is receiving sculpture proposals from artists throughout the Southeast.  After the proposals are received, the class will choose a sculpture that best suits the City of Westminster’s branding “Small Town, Big Adventure”.  The landscape has been designed by Jon Fritz of Bluestem Landscape Design, using plants native to the area.  Once approved by the LOC class, the sculpture and landscape will be sent for final approval to the Westminster City Council. As part of the project, the LOC class has to fundraise to pay for this project.  Although the class has already received donations and grants, more money is needed to complete the project.  You can donate online via GoFundMe at gofundme.com/jjgas2j8 or you can give a donation to any LOC class member.  Please make checks payable to “Leadership Oconee County”.For more information on this project contact Jennifer Moss at 864-638-2224 or [email protected] OR Jeff Lord at 864-647-3232 or [email protected]
