Addressing Oconee’s sub-standard bridges

A state lawmaker makes a prediction as to when all of Oconee’s sub-standard, load-restricted bridges will be repaired.  As soon as 10 years, Senator Thomas Alexander predicted during a speaking appearance this week in Westminster.  Alexander says he bases his prediction on the bond money that the state is turning to for work on the state’s roads and bridges.  Meantime, a source tells 101.7/WGOG NEWS, contracts covering $5 million dollars worth of road repairs are being executed by the state’s Oconee Transportation Committee, chaired by Sam Dickson of Westminster.  There is talk Dickson’s committee will receive an additional $1 million during the 2016-17 year.
