AdvanceEd “team” on its way

An outside group of professional education evaluators makes its way next month to Oconee County, and the county school district intends to be ready. Steve Hanvey, assistant superintendent for instructional services, yesterday announced that representing the accreditation organization AdvanceEd will be six evaluators who will arrive from four states and be led by a retired North Carolina educator, Dr. Michael Lodico. Dr. Mike Lucas, county superintendent, says a favorable evaluation is important to Oconee because it means that the district’s high school diploma may continue to be recognized everywhere.
