Agreement in principle reached by school trustees

At their work session, Oconee school trustees agreed in principle to a transfer to the Town of Salem of the buildings that will no longer be needed for the middle and high school once the current academic year finishes.  Salem, thru its town attorney, has expressed interest in the complex and the transaction could have ramifications for county library branch that now shares space in the town hall building.  One potential stumbling block, however, is the outcome of the court case being pursued by an opponent of the school closing.  Lynn Martin’s case has been rescheduled before Circuit Judge Cordell Maddox for 11 o’clock tomorrow morning at the Oconee Courthouse.
