After the final vote of last night’s meeting, Mayor Danny Edwards declared the dawning of a new day in Walhalla. Edwards reacted to the 6-0 vote to move forward with the streetscape plans developed by Partners for Progress but never implemented. Voting yes were the mayor and five council members. Councilman Deek Biemann did not attend the meeting. The vote comes eight months into the first year of a virtually all-new set of city leaders who have vowed to make Walhalla a better place. As they cast their vote last night, Councilman T-J Bagwell and the others agreed that, before any major changes are made to the downtown, they are going to consult with the business community and city workers, among others.
