Alexander addresses prescription drug abuse

State Senator Thomas Alexander will take a legislative approach to the growing problem of prescription drug abuse. The Oconee-Pickens Republican and Lt. Governor Glenn McConnell unveiled a proposal to protect vulnerable seniors from prescription drug theft and reduce drug abuse and trafficking in the state. “It is my hope that this legislation will clear up any confusion that currently exists for solicitors who have to interpret laws and prosecute violators,” said Alexander, the bill sponsor. Increasing prescription drug theft has the potential to put seniors’ health at risk. It also leads to escalating medical costs and the abuse of prescription drugs by others.
