All testimony finished

All testimony has ended in the Oconee trial of Laquavius Cleveland, without the defendant taking the stand.  Judge Alex Macaulay instructed the jury that it’s the right of any defendant to not testify.  Testimony finished late this morning as the defense presented its only witness, the defendant’s mother, Lasheka Nicole Cleveland.  She testified of being frantic last summer when her so, 16 years old at the time, was taken into custody by the Sheriff’s Office without knowing his whereabouts.   Once the jury gets to take the case to their room, the jurors are to decide whether Laquavius Cleveland is guilty of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in the stabbing July 8, 2013 of Tykeem Kirkland, a man identified as a cousin of the defendant.  The prosecution claims the defendant had gone to his cousin for the purpose of illegally buying a gun and a bag of marijuana.
