All’s well that ends well at Oconee Nuclear

For the rest of the year, the government’s nuclear watchdog plans routine inspections of the Oconee Nuclear Station.  A spokesman for the NRC says that is reflective of the year 2015 during which the Duke Energy nuclear station operated in a manner that preserved public health and safety and protected the environment.  The Nuclear Regulatory Commission maintains resident inspectors at the plant and, last year, all of their findings were color-coded green, which means all were very low safety significance.  Scott Batson, site vice president at Oconee Nuclear, acknowledged such while speaking to 101.7/WGOG NEWS during the open house that the NRC held last evening to provide information on its assessment of Oconee Nuclear in 2015.
