Amendment 54 up for debate

Up for debate first thing this morning at Columbia is an amendment to allow private school and home school tuition tax credits and vouchers. And Dr. Mike Lucas, the superintendent for Oconee public schools, wants Oconee-Pickens Senator Thomas Alexander and the rest of his colleagues to vote no. Lucas blogs: “I strongly urge our senators to vote against Amendment 54 or any amendment that would implement a private school and home school tuition tax credit/deduction/voucher program without a fiscal impact study and citizen input. The budget debate is not the time to implement a program that could drastically change the delivery of schooling,” he said.
