An election night to remember!
New faces emerge in the winner’s column is not the only reason that GOP primary night will be one for the books in Oconee County. A widespread power outage in the upper parts of the county that took 101.7/WGOG off the air is another reason. So is what’s believed to be the poorest voter turnout in modern Oconee times. Only 10% of the county’s voters cast ballots in today’s primary election. Here are the unofficial winners: Incumbent Wayne McCall for District Two, County Council; challenger Julian Davis for District Four; and Glenn Hart for District Five. Each racked up impressive margins. The biggest Oconee vote getter tonight was David Wagner in his 3-way tussle for Solicitor. Wagner topped the Oconee Solicitor ticket with 62.68%, but the Oconee result must be factored in with neighboring Anderson County, which has some 80 precincts to count.
