Apartment resident victim of sexual attack in Seneca

Multiple charges have been placed against a 58-year old man in Seneca after an attack on a neighbor in his apartment complex.  Police Chief John Covington says because of the suspect’s questionable status in the country, his department is asking the U-S Attorney’s Office and I.C.E.—Immigration Customs Enforcement—to review its case against Zenen Alvarez, 58 years old.  Early yesterday Seneca officers found a woman at the Field Village Apartments bruised and beaten and charged her neighbor with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct first degree, and the possession of a firearm, a .380 caliber handgun.  The police quote the victim as saying she had drinks with Alvarez next door, but he hit her in the face and forced her to the floor and the attack began.  The suspect was jailed at the OconeeDetentionCenter.
