Apparent tax office imposters

The police in Walhalla investigated a complaint that two people, posing as representatives of a tax office, knocked on the door of a W. Main Street home, then left once they were asked to show official identification. Chief Ronald Wilbanks said a check with the Oconee County tax offices revealed none of its representatives should have been out going door-to-door yesterday. And, although it was one complaint only, Wilbanks says what happened is a reminder to be on the guard against allowing anyone of a suspicious nature to enter their home….and to call the police department right away.
