Appeals board rejects road variance

Plans by a Clemson home development company for a project tucked inside Oconee County seem to be in doubt today—following a vote last night by the county board of zoning appeals. The appeals board voted to turn down a road development variance in what’s described as a “one-way in, one-way out” area that crosses railroad tracks in the vicinity of Hart’s Cove apartments off highway 123. Josh Stephens, zoning administrator, says safety and traffic concerns were paramount in the board’s 6-0 denial.
