Appreciating Rosa Clark

Oconeeans with some of the kindest hearts in the county filled a large meeting room last night for the annual appreciation dinner for the Rosa Clark Medical Clinic. Located in Seneca, the clinic relies on volunteer professionals to dispense free medical services to many of those with few or no means to pays for them. Rosa Clark is the only such clinic in Oconee County and one of a handful in the state. In one form or another, gratitude was expressed last night to the doctors, nurses and others who volunteer their time. Special recognition went to physicians Frank Axson, John Miller and John Roper for years of service. For his service since 1990, Roper received a South Carolina Senate certificate presented by State Senator Thomas Alexander. Many in the audience were among Rosa Clark benefactors who have given between $25 dollars and, in some instances, $5 thousand or more. According to Vicki Thompson, clinic director, many of those donors frequently come thru “just in the nick of time.”
