Arrest in copper wire theft

Georgia investigators have one man under arrest in the theft of at least 22 thousand pounds of copper wire at the Lake Hartwell Dam. WLHR Lake Hartwell Radio, quotes Hart County investigator Eric Cutshallsaying the copper was taken over a period of time by outside contractors hired by the Army Corps of Engineers. It is said to have a street value of $100 thousand. Local scrap yards that re-sold the wire helped investigators track and arrest James Ernest Masters III, 42-year old Hartwell resident. Masters could also face federal charges.
