Arrest made in golf cart thefts

Nearly one year later, law enforcement authorities have made an arrest in the case of a stolen golf cart from a home near Lake Hartwell. Oconee sheriff’s officers report the arrest of a 46-year old Anderson man. James Eric Powell of Starr was placed in the Oconee Detention Center Friday, charged with grand larceny of two golf carts one day after Christmas last year on Swaney’s Landing Road. A charge of malicious injury to personal property, alleging the cutting of cable to take the golf carts, was also placed against Powell.
