Arrest made in theft of outdoor equipment

A theft some time during 2013 has landed a 33-year old Oconeean in jail. The arrest of Winfred Allen Cawthon was reported yesterday morning by the Oconee Sheriff’s Office. According to investigators, Cawthon is accused of stealing a tractor, radiator, starter, and wiring harness from a pasture on Rebecca Lane and Cobb Bridge Road in the Westminster area between August 13 and December 23, 2013. The value of the items stolen: $13 thousand. They were taken from a tree mover. After his arrest yesterday morning, Cawthon was released from jail on a $25 thousand personal recognizance bond.
