Arrests in Howard’s Rock case

Two North Carolina men have been arrested in the case of vandalism at the iconic symbol of Clemson football—Howard’s rock. Campus police charged Michael J. Rogers, 46, of Pisgah Forest and Alden James Garvey, 17, of Brevard each with felony counts of conspiracy and obstructing justice. The two men appeared before a Pickens County magistrate today, and each was released on personal recognizance bonds. The rock was damaged the night of June 2. Destroyed was the protective casing and a portion of the rock was chipped. According to the university announcement, a video surveillance camera captured part of what happened.
