Arrests made in early morning shooting in Salem

Oconee County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested two people in connection with an early morning shooting in Salem. It happened around 4:00 AM Tuesday on Clearcut Drive. Police responded to the scene where they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the upper torso. The victim was airlifted to Greenville Memorial Hospital. According to Jimmy Watt, Sheriff’s Office Spokesman, two suspects, both from Salem, left the scene in a late ’90’s model black Cadillac. One of those suspects, 38 year-old Jason Scott Alexander, was taken to the Detention Center after turning himself in to police around midday Tuesday. He was booked into jail on charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, and first degree burglary. The other suspect, 31 year-old Justin David Crenshaw, was apprehended following a traffic stop on North Highway 11 in the Salem area just after 6:30 PM Tuesday. Crenshaw is facing charges of attempted murder, first degree burglary, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
