Arson suspected near Seneca

Authorities say a fire that damaged a house near Utica yesterday afternoon was intentionally set and the Oconee Sheriff’s Department is investigating. Fire fighters put a stop to the fire that damaged one room at 107 Stephen Drive near Goddard Avenue, but there was smoke damage throughout. According to Oconee Fire Chief Charlie King, the homeowners helped authorities determine the house had been burglarized and several items taken. The fire killed three family pets.
