Artifacts in danger by loss of air conditioning

Oconee’s prized artifacts are in danger by the loss of all five air conditioning units at the Oconee Heritage Center. This Saturday’s Big Ole Hootenanny and Ice Cream Social have been cancelled, and Heritage Center curator Leslie White says there is an urgent need to raise $50 thousand to repair the air conditioning. White says, “Keeping the museum at a cool temperature and low humidity is essential to the preservation of the artifacts that represent the wonderful history of Oconee County.” The Heritage Center is now accepting tax-deductible donations.
