AT THIS HOUR!

The U-S Forest Service is in Walhalla holding “break out” sessions with members of the public with interest in how the government agency manages the upper corridor of the Wild and Scenic Chattooga River.  Because the famed river passes by three states, Forest Service representatives from South Carolina, Georgia, and North Carolina are leading today’s two collaborative public meetings in the aftermath of the decision in 2012 to allow some boating on the upper sections of the river.  Those break out sessions are designed for those interested in campsites and trails along the river.  A second meeting begins at 6 tonight at the First Baptist Church, 403 E. Main Street.
