At this point, former Seneca plant only….

Oconee Sheriff’s Office is stressing again today that a mis-use of personnel files from a former manufacturing plant at Seneca remains a possibility. But it’s enough of a possibility for those potentially affected to beware. The Sheriff’s Office last week announced that its investigators were working a case of identity fraud and discovered there is the possibility that personnel files from the West Point Stevens Seneca plant may have been stolen and used to open fraudulent accounts. A man who worked at the West Point Stevens Clemson plant said told 96.3/WGOG NEWS that before the Seneca plant closed in 2003, the Seneca employee files were transferred to the Clemson plant, which operated a few more years. He wants to know if people who worked at the Clemson plant may be at risk, also. But Jimmy Watt, spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said, “Right now what we are focusing in on is West Point Stevens employees from the Seneca plant only and advising them to check their credit reports and report any fraudulent activity to the Sheriff’s Office.” However, according to Watt, employees of the former Clemson plant are welcome to check their credit reports, also.
