Attorney walks PRWD thru changes

Now that a new law is on the book governing Pioneer Rural Water District of Oconee and Anderson counties, board members are brushing up on the changes. They met yesterday with their attorney, Rivers Stillwell. The attorney told the board that the language is changing as to who is eligible to vote in annual elections for the board of directors. The distinctions are important for they will apply next year when the term expires of Jerry Barlow, board chairman. Barlow has served a six-year term. The winner of next year’s election will serve three years. The changes result from a bill by State Representative Bill Sandifer, introduced in response to complaints from district customers about the process followed in board elections.
