Auditor to leave office after two terms

Oconee’s two-term auditor is heading to the sidelines.  Ken Nix, a Republican, last night announced he will not offer this year for a third term in office.  In a statement, Nix said, “The two terms I have been blessed with take me into full retirement age.  I sincerely thank the citizens of Oconee County in supporting me as I strived to live up to my promise of treating everyone equally and fairly under the laws of the great State of South Carolina.”  He also announced the endorsement of one of his office workers as the next auditor—Christy Hubbard, the chief deputy auditor.  And Hubbard, resident of Shirley Farm Road, Seneca, followed Nix’s announcement with her own announcement.
