It’s a big home run year even in the minors

Outfielder Michael Gettys in the minor league system of the San Diego Padres has set a single-season home run record playing for the Padres’ AAA farm team, the El Paso Chihuahuas.  He did it by clubbing his 31st home run of the season.  Gettys, from Gainesville, Georgia, is the grandson of Donna and retired WGOG announcer Wayne Morton of Seneca.

Warrant alleges child victimized by sex crime

The Oconee Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man near Westminster on the charges of criminal sexual conduct with a minor. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the arrest of Donald Hobart Dame, 51 years old, took place Tuesday. Dame is accused an incident during the last few days of March, according to an affidavit signed by Investigator Tim Rice.
